Hospedería   de   las   Alas   is   located   in   Ritoque,   Chile,   in   the   site   of   the   Open   City,   a   project   run   by   the   Corporación Amereida   and   the   School   of   Architecture   and   Design   of   the   Catholic   University   of   Valparaiso,   which   for   fifty   years has   been   constructing   a   town   which   now   houses   many   of   the   school’s   staff   and   contains   a   church,   cementery   and many   public   spaces   and   facilities.   ‘Hospederia   de   las   Alas’   is   a   bird   observation   shelter   sited   on   top   of   sand   dunes facing    a    nature    reserve    which    houses    innumerable    bird    species.    The    timber    structure,    composed    of    two intersecting   ruled   surfaces,   is   closed   on   the   two   sides   exposed   to   the   prevailing   weather   and   semi-open   in   the direction   of   the   nature   reserve,   thus   allowing   the   observer   to   view   the   wide   range   of   bird   species   without disturbing them.
